Background

  • Tom has over 40 years of experience working within the Maritime sector, where the first decade was in the shipping industries, before moving into the oil, gas, and LNG segment. Tom worked for Shell for 33½ years until he retired from the company at the end of 2020.
  • Tom has extensive experience in the management and construction of large projects. He has been involved in the construction of 5 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC’s), 10 LNG Carriers (LNGC’s) and 3 Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Assets.
  • Tom has significant experience in concept through to delivery of many projects with time spent on a number of projects within the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase and was recently part of the management team to contract the delivery of 22 LNGC’s that commenced delivery in 2020 and will complete in 2025.
  • I am passionate about safety and will strive to ensure personal and process safety is reflected in every job undertaken.

Professional Experience

  • Site Lead for the conversion of an FPSO in Singapore
  • Site Manager for the hull construction of four LNGC's in South Korea
  • Marine Technical Lead with for the Marine Well Containment Company to provide the industry response to the Macondo (Deepwater Horizon) incident in the GoM.
  • Engineering Superintendent for LNG Vessel refits
  • Charterer’s Technical Representative for the delivery of six (6) new build LNG vessels
  • Technical Assurance provider to Shell’s floating Assets
  • Technical Adviser to OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum)
