OVERVIEW

 

  An enthusiastic and adaptable, Project, Turnaround, Maintenance Planner & Scheduler with 20 years’ experience in the Chemical, Oil, Gas and Nuclear industry. A proven competence in the planning and execution of Unit Turnarounds, projects and day to day maintenance. Great at embedding into organisations and collating the information required to plan and schedule in complex industries where safety, cost and environment are key deliverables. Always looking at ways to improve and develop as an individual and within the role I am fulfilling. Key strengths include particularly good people and communication skills, willingness to learn, extremely proficient in the use of Primavera and SAP and good HSSE awareness. These talents have been demonstrated by planning and co-ordinating multi discipline activities to fit the business needs, on a daily basis, for a number of years.

Consultant Planner – Sequence Planning Limited

  • Sequence Planning has successfully performed consultation services for several companies carrying out event and P6 schedule readiness reviews, these include EET Fuels, Veolia, Cammel Lairds, Bilfinger and Neway Services.

Consultant Project Planner – Sequence Planning for Capital Planning Solutions at Urenco Group 12/07/21 to Present day

  • Embedded into Decommissioning team picking up flagship project 
  • Managing resource and cost loaded schedules using Primavera P6
  • Managing, reviewing and reporting on schedule performance indicator, Cost performance indicator and earned value 
  • Chairing weekly priorities and project team meetings ensuring actions and accountabilities are linked to P6 activities and sent to participants
  • Consultant for new Urenco Chem plant outages, carrying out gap analysis and creating new Plan and Prep and execution templates 
  • Assisting with the creation of new global procedures for Outage Management
  • Ensuring alignment between main contractor’s schedule and Client’s requirements

Consultant Site Lead Planner Scheduler – Sequence Planning at CF fertilisers 16/09/20 to 25/06/21

  • Developed P6 and scheduling set up at Ince site. Liaised with Sister Plant (Billingham) and set up forum to align a common approach to Turnaround scheduling- Demonstrated and embedded best practice for scheduling across the site.
  • Carried out training of site personnel in use of P6 and Turnaround scheduling and management
  • Full run through of schedule including ops shutting down prep and hand over of unit and equipment
  • Validated work created by Job pack planners ensuring correct engineering standard were adhered to and correct normed hours were used.
  • Created resource histograms enabling contract strategy agreements
  • Ensured robust additional work process was in place and emended in schedule as required and advised where impacted.
  • Built and successfully executed P6 schedules for Ammonium Nitrate and a Master schedule for a Full Site Outage (1.7m with 150 additional head count) including Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Water Treatment and CO plants. Liaised with separate unit operations teams to build a fully integrated schedule with phased handover and hand back of equipment and plant. 
  • Set up and published to project website to advertise status and look heads ensuring all key stakeholders kept alignment to the schedule.
  • Set up site Turnaround planning processes and assisted in embedding new methods and documents for optimisation and planning of scope. 

Turnaround Planner scheduler – Essar Oil -01/01/17 to 14/09/20. 

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for planning and building an integrated TA schedule, including process systems to allow phased hand over & hand-back of production units, using the P6 software.
  • Work closely with a TA engineer to ensure the turnaround is a success – No injuries – On time – On budget.
  • Adhere to milestones to ensure right material delivery at the right time. Hire equipment, ensure logistics are in place in a timely manner and have a schedule in place for review by key parties well in advance of engineering start. 
  • Responsible for the delivery of small, medium and Block size TAs, with budgets ranging from £500k-£19m.
  • Manage the planning and installation of TA temporary facilities to a high HSSE standard, including IT, ENG & CIVIL contractors.
  • Interacted and quickly built good working relationships with transient contractor workforce to enable successful planning and execution of turnarounds.
  • Responsible for a team of Job pack planners, ensuring there planning standards remain at a high standard by mentoring and validation. 
  • Chair look ahead meetings during Turnarounds ensuring key party accountability for actions and works are completed as per schedule.
  • Raising and managing requisitions through to ensuring service entries are raised on completion.
  • Lead P6 Professional superuser controlling Admin settings and access rights for site Turnaround department.
  • One of a handful of SAP super-users for the site.
  • Mentor new starters to the group, sharing P6 knowledge and correct procedures.

 

Achievements 

 

  • Feb 2020- Successfully planned and executed a Catalytic Cracker unit intermediate outage in a very short time frame and in difficult circumstances. Produced a fully integrated project and advertised to key parties to ensure activities were completed as per schedule. 
  • Developed and standardised TA planning procedures. Influence the team to embrace new ways of using P6 for running a Turnaround including new meeting formats.
  • Deputised for TA Engineer role where required – Chaired pre-event planning meetings, involvement with scope Optimisation, budget requirements, Budget setting and Management and Milestone tracking.
  • Created P6 “How to power point guides” for the team- Including -Settings, calendars, WBS, Activities, Codes and Filters, networking, reports, constraints, Levelling, WP’s & Docs, activity steps and updating.
  • Sept 2019- Successfully planned and executed Sulphur recovery unit turnaround, took on parts of the TA engineer role prior to and during the event.
  • May 2019 - Successfully planned and executed Hydrotreater 2 Unit TA. Started a new approach to TA scheduling on site ensuring much better buy-in to the schedule by the Operations department, promoting a closer link from the operations shutting down phase of the unit, to preparation of equipment and engineering start.
  • January 2018 - Successfully planned and executed site utilities units TA during a site Block outage. The units covered during this event were ADIP, SCOT, SRU, SWS, HPBH and site linework system. The challenges faced during this period were managing multiple unit TA’s plus the geographical challenges and interfaces with other units during a high workload period for the site. 
  • Managed and delivered a number of site projects to enable de bottlenecking of units and greater running efficiencies. 
  • June 2017 - Successfully planned and executed Alcohols chemical Unit TA, despite being new to the site Turnaround group, quickly embedded myself into the team, using new software, procedures and methods.

 

Cat Cracking Unit & Alcohols Unit Maintenance Planner and Scheduler Essar/Shell Oil UK 01/05/06 to 01/01/17 

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for planning and building an integrated Maintenance Schedule including rotating and static equipment preventative and breakdown work, mandatory inspection items and Corrective action inspection items 
  • Supply Co-ordinator with a schedule of works to allocate to field technicians 
  • Manage preventative schedules in SAP ensuring there are no over dues and all relevant work is planned and scheduled
  • Interface with Inspection department to ensure all enabling work is completed in a timely manner 
  • Work closely with site-based contract workforce interacting with multiple disciplines such as civil, scaffolding, insulation and mechanical  
  • Cover coordination role where required
  • Chair maintenance meetings including 3-week schedule meeting and planning meeting
  • Interface with Operations to ensure prep and release of equipment as per schedule
  • Maintain good cost management in SAP via work orders, requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and service entries. 

 

Achievements 

 

  • The cat cracking unit is a large and diverse plant which is made up of several units including EBU (Ethyl Benzene unit), Gas plants and HFA (Hydrofluoric acid plant) meaning as the sole planner of the unit, excellent management of daily work load was essential. 
  • Involved in a number of improvement teams to embed a field planning sheet, better use and management of SAP, meeting formats and inspection scope information 
  • Seconded to be lone night’s supervisor during the demolition and rebuild of F202 Crude distillation unit furnace, responsible for maintaining high HSE standards and ensuring work continued as per schedule.

 

SAP Super user, Shell Oil UK - 01/06/05 to 01/05/06 

  • Review and cleansed existing SAP system splitting working time between Stanlow oil refinery and Shell centre London
  • Trained and rolled out to site new GAME ME process in workplace and in classroom environment
  • Carried out pre implementation program testing

Electrical Maintenance Technician, Shell Oil UK - 01/07/02 to 01/06/05 

  • Part of a multi-disciplined production unit maintenance team.
  • Compex trained.
  • AEP. (Authorised Electrical person)

Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician, Sharp Manufacturing UK - 01/06/92 to 01/07/02

  • Lead role in shift team carrying out all aspects of preventative and reactive maintenance throughout the site
  • Maintenance and fault finding of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems
  • Panel wiring using design drawings
