  • Responsible for the delivering the agreed scope for DPPA barge campaign.
  • Provide direction as Campaign Manager to ensure the planned Turnaround activities were completed in a safe and efficient manner to meet the agreed business requirement and timescale.
  • Identify key elements of the process to ensure that progress was aligned to agreed timelines and introduce the necessary changes to ensure these were being met. 
  • Liaise with all parts of the business to guarantee a clear understanding of the delivery responsibilities.

Talisman Energy / Repsol-Sinopec Energy

Oct 2010 to 2018           Offshore Installation Manager – Piper Bravo

Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of Piper Bravo, a large North Sea oil platform with 180 personnel, Gas Compression, Gas Sweetening, NGL recovery, Sulphate Removal and Water Injection facilities. Field includes a 55 km subsea tie-back and low manned satellite platform (Saltire Alpha). Opex budget of circa £100 million and production efficiency above 85%. 

  • Successfully implemented a self-audit process which was subsequently adopted across all Talisman Sinopec assets. 
  • Integral part of the management team for the development, integration and implementation of the Integrated Asset Planning process which included the revision and process for maintenance planning including KPI’s and performance management.
  • Successful implementation of a staff deepening process from contract to staff positions.
  • Oversaw the successful platform drill rig reinstatement. 
  • Worked with manpower suppliers to hire targeted individuals, significantly improve the skills within core teams. In parallel driving high potential individuals through their competency programmes. 

Jan 2006 to Oct 2010     Offshore Installation Manager – Bleo Holm FPSO

Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of Bleo Holm, an FPSO  with 96 personnel, Oil Processing, Gas Compression, and Water Injection facilities. Field includes a 11 km subsea tie-back. Opex budget of circa £80 million and production efficiency above 95%.  Responsible for the safe and efficient transition from Bluewater operations to Talisman Energy. This included the Safe Systems of Work and documentation changeover.

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient transition from Bluewater Operations to Talisman Energy. This included the Safety Management System, Safe Systems of Work and critical documentation for changeover.
  • Implemented observational safety system to improve personal safety that was later adopted across all sites.

Oct 2004 to Dec 2005   Onshore Asset Manager and Transition Manager – Bleo Holm Bluewater Energy/Talisman Energy

Onshore Asset Manager for the Bleo Holm FPSO and Transition Manager responsible for safe and efficient operations, meeting and exceeding targets, budgetary and cost control, regulatory compliance, auditing and client interface. During this period the FPSO transferred from Bluewater operation to Talisman operation and I was responsible for ensuring the efficient transition including agreement between both parties for the hand over condition. During this period I was seconded to audit Husky Energy’s White Rose FPSO in Newfoundland to ensure the vessel was ready for sail away and operations.

Jan 2003 to Oct 2004       Technical OIM– Haewene Brim FPSO Bluewater Energy/Shell

Interface with project team to provide WI facility on the Haewene Brim FPSO. Shortly after joining the project was appointed Deputy Project Manager. Responsibly for ensuring schedule, budget control, operational functionality and readiness prior to construction yard departure.  Monitoring and interface with commissioning activities ready for entry into service. Final close out documentation.

Mar 2001 to Jan 2003     Offshore Installation Manager – Haewene Brim FPSO Bluewater Energy

Bluewater Energy purchased Haewene Brim (formally Berge Huegen) from Pierce Production and I was responsible for the transition of the operational crew to Bluewater from PPC. Responsibilities included the transition of all procedures and documentation for the safe and efficient operation of the FPSO during transition and into normal operations.

During this period I was part of the team for the Bleo Holm FPSO and based at Fluor Daniels for the original design phase. Transferred to construction yard in Glasgow (UIE) for construction phase and departure to field for installation. FPSO in operation for 2 years then vessel removed back to construction yard for the upgrade tie in of the Blake Field. On completion vessel towed back to field for hook up and operation.

Employed by Sun Oil Britain on the Balmoral floating production vessel as a mechanical technician and then promoted to Mechanical Engineer and then Operations Superintendent.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of all major equipment including gas turbines, oil and water injection pumps, cranes, ballast systems and life support.

May 83 to May 86   Mechanical Technician   Ninian South Chevron/Lassalle

Employed as a mechanical technician on Chevron’s Ninian South Production platform to maintain all types of the mechanical systems equipment.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of all major equipment including oil and gas production systems, gas turbines, oil and water injection pumps, cranes, and life support.

April 80 to April 83 Mechanical Technician Medtech Libya/Malta

Employed as a mechanical technician at various locations in Libya and seconded to a refit project and office support in Malta.

  • Part of team replacing pumps and generators on semi sub.

Aug 74 to April 80   Mechanical Technician   British Steel Corporation Redcar Works

Employed as an apprentice for 4 years and successfully qualified as mechanical technician in 1978. During my apprenticeship period I was exposed to a variety of mechanical and process systems involved in the production of Iron and Steel. I qualified and was employed at Redcar Works on the Ore Terminal working on large cranes and material movement systems. I was also seconded for a number of turbine overhaul and upgrades in the onsite steam power station.
