The Team

SYNOPSIS

A dynamic and enthusiastic engineer with an extensive practical knowledge of Process automation and Safety instrumented systems from multiple automation contractors. Known for pragmatic engineering judgment combined with strong problem solving skills I have a track record of delivering fit for purpose solutions in challenging circumstances. With 30 yrs experience in BP divided between project and operational roles, upstream and downstream, I am well placed to provide a broad engineering resource to modernisation and re-instrumentation projects at any scale.

Most recent role in BP was Principal Digital security engineer for automation systems. In this role I provided guidance and expertise on cyber security vulnerabilities associated with modern automation control systems. With many control systems having limited inherent digital security specialist knowledge is required to provide site network architectures that can provide the functionality required by the user whilst minimising the threat surface to malicious cyber activity.

Senior Control and Automation Engineer within the central Upstream Engineering Centre in Sunbury. This role provides deep technical expertise to regional operations and GPO projects alike, striving to provide simplification through standardisation of ICSS design to provide business value. Within the role I provide the technical point of contact for Emerson Process Control, specifically their DeltaV ICSS which is used extensively through Upstream, scope includes network design, SIS segregation and digital security.

Region Technical Authority for Instrumentation and Control, Angola, S&OR. A senior role which provides independent safety assurance and deep technical expertise to GOO on all aspects of ICSS, F&G and associated automation systems.

Lead Instrument and Control engineer for Angola Block 31 Operations responsible for the support and maintenance of PSVM ICSS from early project development through commissioning and 1st year operation.

Senior project control and safety systems engineer providing operations input into the design and construction of PAS and SIS systems for a major offshore ultra deep water FPSO facility for Angola block 31.

Two years Process Automation Team Leader at BP Chemicals with technical authority for all site PAS and SIS installations across the manufacturing facility.

Fifteen years experience in Process Control and Instrumentation within the Petrochemical and Chemical industries, Experience gained with a wide range of monitoring and control equipment. This included ten years project experience including a major site wide re-instrumentation involving the relocation of 11 processing units into a State of the art Central Control Room. Responsible for the standardisation of all SIS installations onto a single vendor platform (Honeywell FSC) and the development and maintenance of a single site function block library.

Confident to learn new skills and master new equipment in any environment, always willing to pass on skills or knowledge that would benefit others.
